~Shadows of the Crows~
I was great. I was brilliant. Now I am thrown down, lying broken upon the ground, gurgling in my own blood. The sky is so clear and bright...... An azure tapestry sewn with cotten shapes of white. I cannot move but choke and cough. The crows will come for me soon. Their harsh croaks will tear at my sanity as their beaks peck out my eyes and feast upon my entrails.Argh! The pain!
I glance to my left. The arm that grew there, that strumed and clapped, was taken from me. Just after my shoulder joint. I traded it for the life of the man responsible. Considering what he did to me, he was great too. I continue to watch as the crimson rivers of life abandon me.
I do solemnly swear upon my life and honour, and in free and voluntary desire, to serve my land and lord as a knight and emissionary. I swear to be both a true and chivalric knight, to obey my calling, my King, and to aid my fellow men, and upon death and eternal damnation should I sunder this vow. I also swear by all that I hold sacred and dear, to aid those less fortunate then I, to relieve the distress of the world and to fulfill my knightly obligations. To be without fear in the face of my enemies. To speak no more and no less than the truth, always, even if it leads to my death. To safeguard the helpless and do no wrong. This, I commit by my own free and independent will, and so it shall be.
That was my oath.
That was when I stood tall and proud, unbroken, bearing the standard of my clan.
The sky......
It is darkening.
The shadows are coming, coming for me.
The winged shadows of the crows.
